It’s Flathead Food Bank 40th Birthday which means it is also time to celebrate and Party Like It’s 1982. The Flathead Food Bank has been helping the community for 40 years which means it is time to celebrate for a cause. The celebration will take place on Friday, June 3, 2022, from 5:30pom until 9pm at the Flathead Food Bank located at 1203 U.S. Highway 2 West in Kalispell, Montana. All proceeds from this even will further the mission to eliminate hunger in the Flathead Valley. 

We provide emergency food and necessities to those in our community who need immediate assistance. We operate our main pantry in Kalispell and four satellite pantries around the Flathead Valley.

Dust off your most memorable outfit from 1982 and help us kick off another 40 years of feeding our neighbors here in the Flathead Valley. Are you ready to have a great time while supporting our Veterans? Come on out to the 13th Annual Memorial Poker Run for the Veterans on Saturday, May 28, 2022. The event starts at the A Bar, then heads to the Polson VFW, Mavericks, Bigfork VFW and then ends back at the A Bar for the final party and silent auction. Sign up starts at 11am and any vehicle can participate. Remember this Memorial Poker Run is for Veterans…so let’s all come out and support!

About Lauren Welch
Lauren Welch, a 15 year old Montana native, is pursuing her solo violin career and music studies with The Juilliard School graduate, Wai Mizutani and Curtis Institute of Music graduate, Kevin Lin. Lauren is also involved in a mentorship program with Jérôme Pernoo, faculty member of The Paris Conservatory of Music. Lauren has performed in over 200 concerts and events with audiences of up to 7,000 people. Lauren has performed at The Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts and The Andrew Mellon Auditorium in Washington D.C. Lauren plans to attend the 2022 Encore chamber Music Intensive Summer Academy in Cleveland and MusicAlp Music Festival in France. Lauren has a professional-level repertoire, with hundreds of classical pieces by composers such as Mozart, Paganini and her personal favorite Bach.

2022 Whitefish Marathon, Half and 5K

Whitefish Marathon

On Saturday, May 21, 2022, starting at 8am, the Whitefish Marathon Half Marathon & 5k will take place starting and finishing Depot Park in Whitefish, Montana. 100% of the proceeds will be donated to the Wave Scholarship Fund. There will post race celebration at the Depot Park where participants can enjoy food and drinks including beers from local breweries.

  • RACE DATE AND TIME: Saturday, May 21, 2022 @ 8 AM (all races)
  • START/FINISH LOCATION: Depot Park in Whitefish, Montana
  • DISTANCE: 26.2 miles, Boston Qualifier
  • CUT OFF TIME: The marathon has a course limit of 6.5 hours. All runners and walkers must be off the course by 2:30 PM
  • ENTRY FEE/REGISTRATION: Prices are listed on the Registration Page

      • Whitefish Marathon t-shirt
      • Medal for all official finishers
      • Fluids, food, and sanitary facilities on the course
      • Celebration at the finish with food and drink for all runners

This will be a start studded evening all to support our community’s youth. There will be a catered dinner by Forage Catering, Hosted Bar, Live Music, Silent and Live Auction. This year’s Dress To The Nines theme is Starry, Starry Night!

“One of our amazing past residents will share a story followed by a rousing live auction with some exciting adventure opportunities. We will close out the evening with a paddle call in support of the kids at the Flathead Youth Home.”

Youth Homes is a non profit 501(c)(3) organization that cares for children who are facing abuse, neglect, emotional trauma and substance abuse problems. Through our emergency shelters, therapeutic group homes, foster care and adoption programs and counseling services, we provide a safe refuge for kids while they begin the difficult process of healing. 5k for the Kids

PTA Run 5K For the Kids

On Your Marks! Get Set! Go! The Make A Wish Foundation’s 5k for the Kids will take place at the PTA Physical Therapy Clinic on Whitefish State Road in Kalispell, Montana, on Saturday, May 14, 2022. The event will be filled with family-friendly fun including a silent auction and a BBQ for participants. This race will not be chip timed, it’s a fun run to raise money for the kids! All proceeds will go to the Make a Wish Foundation.

Spring Into Safety – Kid’s Day

Are you ready for a fun, FREE event for kids? On Saturday, April 7, 2022, starting at 11am, head on over to Northwest Montana Fairgrounds the 6th Annual Spring into Safety Kid’s Day. This free event is all about kid’s safety starting with Roundup for Safety providing more than 1,000 free bicycle helmets. Plus, kids are invited to bring their bikes for a maintenance check, and they can even check out the MHP road safety course. There will also be kid’s games, face painting, bouncy houses, and other activities. In addition, there will be more than 30 community programs, A.L.E.R.T. and Tow Bear Air Helicopters, Area Police, Fire, EMS and Search & Rescue will all be available to answer questions.

The 16th Annual Banquet & Auction will take place Saturday, April 23, 2022, from 6pm until 10pm at the Kalispell Wrestling Club. KALISPELL WRESTLING CLUB

As the only year-round, non-affiliated wrestling program, Kalispell Wrestling Club is committed to providing the finest coaching, wrestling and youth development program in the Flathead Valley! It is our strong belief that wrestling builds character, teaches kids how to overcome obstacles, handle their emotions, respect authority, the importance of being a good teammate, and that success has to be earned through hard work and determination. As a multifaceted club, we promote and support all three styles of wrestling: Folk-style, Freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling. Encouraging participation in local, state, regional and national championships allow our athletes of all ages, size, gender and skill level to increase their competition experience, improve their wrestling talents and enhance their confidence level, while developing vital life-long skills such as leadership, teamwork, integrity and sportsmanship. Ultimately, it is our intent to become the best local club in Montana through generating well-rounded wrestlers, utilizing our program as a foundation to high-school, college and national programs. Through our training, our wrestlers will be ready for tomorrow’s challenges! Opportunities range from a 6-week Little Guy season to year-round practices to joining the traveling team. 4th Annual Shred Event

Do you have old energy bills, water bills and phone bills? What do you have lying around the house that has your personal information on it? Don’t just throw it directly into the trash, come on out to the 4th Annual Shred Event at NW Montana Veterans Stand Down and Food Pantry. On Saturday, April 15, 2022, from 9an-11am and 1pm-3pm, everyone is invited to come safely shred their personal documents. 

“With Tax season being over, the North West Montana Veterans Stand Down & Food Pantry with the help of AARP, Agency on Aging, Humana, Vet Center, Valley Recycling, Veterans Coalition and Grizzly shred have come together to hold a free Shred Event with a donation of cash and or food, they will be shredding important paperwork. “

In addition to the great opportunity to shred personal documents, there will also be representatives with information on identity theft, fraud, Medicare fraud prevention, suicide prevention and care givers’ support. They will also have free gun locks, event swag bags. The 4th Annual Shred Event is drive through this year and is FREE with a cash or food donation for the Veterans Food Pantry. Learn more – HERE

A partnership between the Kalispell Job Service, Flathead Valley Community College, the Daily Inter Lake, and Discover Kalispell Chamber, this year’s fair has invited local high schools to bring students for career exploration from 9-11am, Veterans and Encore workers (retirees/seniors looking to re-engage in the workforce ) for the 11am-12pm hour, and is open to the general public from 12 – 4pm.
