Star Gazing on the Trail
October 1 @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm
Celebrate the beauty of the sky, and join us for our first ever star gazing party on the trail! Free hot cocoa and adult refreshments will be provided!
For the first hour, local astronomer from Polebridge Jim Rittenburg will be leading us in a constellation tour of the sky. The second half of the event, we will have the opportunity to look at various objects through telescopes, including Saturn.
PLEASE NOTE there is a .4 mile walk to the star gazing area. If you are familiar with Smith Lake, we will be meeting at hole 11! If you are not familiar, there will be signs and markers directing you where to go. Please plan your timing accordingly and bring a headlamp/flashlight for the walk out.
Please bring your own chairs and blankets. You are also encouraged to bring binoculars if you have them. Please note that the road to the trailhead is rough in spots, and an off-road vehicle is recommended. ALSO, carpooling is heavily advised as parking is limited. There is a lower parking lot (the disc golf parking lot) that can be used for shuttling.
*NOTE: In case of poor weather or sky visibility, we will post on instagram and facebook about cancellation by 5pm the day before the event.
This family-friendly event is free and suitable for all ages and abilities however attendance is limited and registration is required. Registration will open 2 weeks prior to the event. Please be sure to create your Eventbrite account to register or use the “remind me” tab to receive notification an hour before tickets become available. When registration opens, reserve a ticket for each member of your party.
