Let The Skiing Begin in Montana!

Everybody loves fresh powder when skiing. The fresh fallen snow makes you feel like you are floating, and it makes a great landing pad as well. Some of the best skiing temperatures are 20 to 30 degrees F, but for those of us who enjoy skiing, cold weather or snow is just another fun challenge to the slope. Let the skiing begin in Montana……Big Mountain here we come starting December 8, 2022, until April 9, 2023!

Transportation to Big Mountain

Skiing on Big Mountain is great, but you have to get up the mountain first. Many people are just uncomfortable driving up the mountain through the snow or they just don’t want to fight for parking. Don’t worry about it….we’ve got a S.N.O.W bus. The S.N.O.W bus is FREE and they pickup at a variety of locations in Whitefish. Learn more – HERE

Riding The Chair To The Top

Lift Tickets & Equipment Rental

There are a variety of options when it comes to lift tickets. Adult lift tickets (ages 19-64) are $89 for one day, Super Senior (70+) are $32, Seniors (65-69) are $80, Teens (13-18) are $80, Junior (7-12) are $47 and children under 6 are free. Standard equipment for individuals 13 and above are $45 per day (but discounts are provided online). Kids 12 and below can rent equipment for $33 per day (but discounts are provided online). Ski School

Whether you are a beginner or skilled skier, a little ski school can go a long way. Big Mountain has lots of great opportunities for any skillset and age. Children ages 3-6 can participate in Ski/Ride and Play, Juniors ages 7-12 and Adults 13 + can get group lessons. There is also a great program for first times called Learn to Ski or Ride. For only $99 dollars, anyone 7 years old and up can get a wonderful introduction to skiing or snowboarding. “Our Learn to Ski or Ride Program includes two half-day lessons (10am or 1pm), a two-day lower mountain lift ticket, and two days of rentals. You can choose either morning or afternoon lessons on two consecutive days with one of our top-ranked instructors.” Learn more – HERE

Restaurants

Ed & Mully’s is open! Ed and Mully’s is one of the Go-To fuel stops on the slope-side for tasty bites. Whether you are eating, grabbing a drink or just enjoying a cup of coffee by the fireplace, this is a definite place to stop to refuel from skiing. The food menu has great items like Mountain Nachos, Burgers, Fish n Chips and even a kid’s menu. They also have a great full bar with lots of different beers on top…including local Montana-Made favorites. Ed & Mully’s restaurant is open 11am -4pm and the bar is open 11am until last call at 5:45pm. There is a limited menu for night skiing. Snack and Food prices range from $1.75 to $15.00. 

Base Lodge Café & Bar  The restaurant is open 11am -4pm with a limited Night Ski Menu until 7pm. The bar is open 11am until last call at 4:45pm and 7:45 pm for Night Ski. If you are looking for a great slice of pizza to help make it through the skiing day, grab a slice of pepperoni with whole milk mozzarella. Mama Mia! If your looking for a great cup of soup or chili, get it with the Bread Bowl. Food prices range from $4.50 to $12.50. 

Base Lodge Coffee Bar – It’s coffee Time! The bar is open….at least the coffee bar at the Base Lodge Coffee bar daily from 8:15 until 4pm and on Night Ski at 4:30pm.  

Café Kandahar & Snug Bar – Since 1983, Café Kandahar has delighted locals and tourists alike with unique dining experience that can be complemented with carefully curated wine pairings and other beverage recommendations. Owner/Chef Any Blanton comes from New Orleans, famous for delicious food and Mardi Gras, and has created wonderful cuisine highlighting local and seasonal ingredients. The restaurant is opened Wednesday through Sunday from 6pm-7:30pm. Café Kandahar and Snug Bar offer take-out menu options 7 nights a week, pickup times begin at 5:15pm and continue until 9:15pm. Hellroaring Saloon & Eatery – From 11am until 5pm come on out and check out this Saloon. The Hellroaring Saloon & Eatery is located in the historic Chalet on Whitefish Mountain Resort. 2022 Whitefish Turkey Trot

2022 Whitefish Turkey Trot

Do you want to earn you turkey dinner and do a good deed?  The 2022 Whitefish Turkey Trot will take place on Thursday, November 24, 2022,  starting at 9am at 251 Flathead Avenue in Whitefish. Participants are invited to sign up early, but even if you cannot participate in the run, donations will be still be accepted in any form to the food bank.

2021 Whitefish Turkey Trot

This 2022 Whitefish Turkey Trot is organized to support the North Valley Food bank whose mission is to build food security and to strengthen communities. In preparation for Thanksgiving, perishable items are needed including Fresh and frozen turkeys, turkey breasts, stuffing, cranberry sauce, canned green beans, brown sugar, sugar, flour, holiday spices, salt and pepper, pie filling, boxed pie crust, gravy mix, dehydrated potatoes, canned yams, fresh potatoes, yams and butter. All participants are encouraged to make donations to the Food Bank.

2022 Whitefish Turkey Trot Details

Do you think you are ready for the 50K Mountain Ultra? Maybe a 5k, 10k or family run is more you style? Good news, the Whitefish Trail Legacy run will take place October 1-2, 2022. On Saturday, the 50K Mountain Ultra will take place starting in Depot Park, climbing to the summit of Big Mountain and finishing in downtown Whitefish. On Sunday, there will be half marathon, 10K, 5K and family run that will take runners through Whitefish Trail in Beaver Lakes. All runners will receive FREE entry into Oktoberfest, a beer and food, a custom race buff (neck gaiter), Hammer nutrition products, and a custom 50k finisher patch. Awards to be announced.

EVENT: 50K MOUNTAIN RUN
Saturday October 1st – Presented by Hammer Nutrition, the 50k Mountain Run course will start and finish at the Great Northwest Oktoberfest in Depot Park in downtown Whitefish. Runners will climb to the summit of Big Mountain via the Whitefish Trail in Haskill, Whitefish Mountain Resort trails, and Flathead National Forest trails.

Of the 31 mile course, approximately 25 miles is on natural surface, single-track trails, and 6 miles is on paved roads and bike paths leaving and re-entering the City of Whitefish. The lollipop/loop section in Flathead National Forest and Whitefish Mountain Resort is approximately 16 miles in length. Runners will utilize 5.5 miles of the Whitefish Trail in both directions to access Flathead National Forest and Whitefish Mountain Resort. See the approximate race course map. Total elevation gain is approximately 6,000 feet. We will provide a map and GPS file to all registrants.

Sunday, October 2nd – Brought to you by Whitefish Therapy and Sport Center, the Half Marathon will explore protected lands and scenic lakes in the Beaver Lakes area of the Whitefish Trail. Starting at the Whitefish Bike Retreat, runners will explore 100% single track around Rainbow Lake, Woods Lake, Dollar Lake, Little Beaver Lake. The half marathon course has a total elevation gain of around 2,000 feet. Final course and start times subject to change.

All runners will receive FREE food and beverages, a custom race buff (neck gaiter), Hammer nutrition products, and a custom finisher patch. Awards to be announced.

Golf For Good!

On Friday, August 26th, 2022, come join friends and family at the Village Greens Golf Course in Kalispell, Montana, for a little golfing for a cause. This year marks the 6th Annual Golf Scramble – Golf For Good – where all proceeds go to support the Dream Adaptive Recreation programs. Participation is available for both teams and single golfers and includes a light breakfast, range balls, cart, round of golf, access to hole prizes, lunch, DREAM hat, sleeve of quality golf balls and more!

We leverage abilities! Trained staff and volunteer instructors help break down barriers to participation, so that everyone has access to the great outdoors. We provide adaptive equipment as needed, and create a safe and fun environment to learn and grow. Every person is unique, and therefore our lessons and experiences are tailored to specific goals and desires.

Our program opportunities support individuals ages 5 to adults with a variety of disabilities including those with physical, cognitive, intellectual, developmental and sensory challenges. Participants range from the never-ever looking to learn a new sport or experience a new adventure, to the more advanced athlete looking to try new equipment, refine their skills or reach loftier goals.

The Big Mountain Run

Join friends and family for the 40th Annual Big Mountain Run – Danny On Hill Climb – on Saturday, July 23, 2022, starting at 10am at the base of Big Mountain at the Whitefish Mountain Resort. The race starts at the Danny On Trailhead in the Upper Village near Hellroaring Saloon and finishes where the Danny On Trailhead reaches the cat track to the Summit House getting down the mountain. Participants will get the opportunity to have a lot of fun along with some great exercise.

Registration is going on now and ends on July 22, 2022. The price is $30.00 + $3.24 sign up fee for adults and $15.00 + $2.37 Sign up fee for kids 16 years old and below. Entry includes a lift ticket down, race swag, great prizes, and snacks at the top!

Compete for, Fastest Adults (King and Queen), Fastest Juniors, 16 and under, (Prince and Princess), Oldest and Youngest Runner Prize, and Top Dog Award – Fastest Dog (on a leash) up the mountain.

The Birthday Club! – All runners finishing the course in a time less than their age (women – age plus 10 minutes) qualify for the Birthday Club and receive a cupcake and the coveted asterisk by your name.

Adults (18+) General Admission: WHITE $20. RED $30. BLUE $40 Kids (7-17) General Admission: WHITE $10. Kids (6 under) Free WHITE. General admission seating will be in the expanded general bleacher seating and any open grass area including hill or open general admission standing areas around arena. Red, White and Blue ticketing bleacher sections will be painted colors and those ticketing sections are first come first serve based on ticket purchase. Kids ticket pricing is in white bleacher section only otherwise standard ticket pricing.

RED: Lower bleachers outside sections.

BLUE: Front center arena lower bleachers sections.

WHITE: Upper bleachers and north bleachers any open grass area including hill or open general admission standing areas around arena.

VIP TICKETS:

Adults (18+) VIP: $75. Kids (All) VIP: $40. VIP area will include table seating for all attendees, all access in VIP tent, one ticket to BBQ line, all you can eat taco bar, free beer provided by Coors, two wine tickets or craft beer tickets per adult attendee 21+, free bottle water and sodas and a meet and greet with cowboys and stock before and after performance.   • Montana residents who pay the $9 state parks fee with their annual vehicle registration have no daily entrance fees to state parks. For residents who don’t include this in their vehicle registration, non-resident day use fees apply.

Nonresidents

  • Day use entrance fee with a vehicle: $8
  • Day use entrance fee as a walk-in, bicycle or bus passenger: $4
