The Results Are In – The Big Shindig 2022

From Hot Rods to Pin Up Ladies… The Big Shindig 2022 at the Desoto Grill in Kalispell, Montana, was absolutely amazing. The best part about the hundreds of family, friends, and car enthusiasts coming out to the event was that they were all there to support a wonderful cause – Mikayla’s Miracles & Blessings Foundation! Mikayla’s Miracles & Blessings Foundation helps children and adults with disabilities, caregivers, veterans and seniors be at their best as they live, learn, work and play. Learn more about Mikayla’s Miracles & Blessings Foundation – HERE.

The Results Are In – The Big Shindig 2022

There were so many trophies handed out, but the competitions were very steep. From Best Engine to Best Pin-Up Plunge to Scooter Race Competitions and Frozen T-Shirt Wars, there was something for everybody to win. If that was not enough, there was a live auction, silent auction, and even opportunities to receive a professional shave and haircut…all for Mikayla’s Foundation. The Foundation raised thousands of dollars and the good news is that all of it stays in the Flathead Valley.

The Big Shindig 2022 Pin Up Winner

“All the money that is raised STAYS here in the Flathead Valley. Last year alone we were able to help over 3000 kids! We are helping families with special needs kids to get the equipment to help make it a little easier every day. We are also helping families in our Flathead Valley who are less fortunate. Providing needs for the homeless high school kids!”

But, that was not all, if you were in the least bit hungry, the Desoto Grill took care of you with sliders, drinks, beers on tap and so much more. Plus, there were all sorts of vendors selling great locally made items from T-shirts, soaps and jewelry, and there were also two great bands that played all day long. This year maybe over, but we can all start preparing and looking forward to next year. Great Job!

Matt & Benjamin Story

Here at Clydesdale Outpost our passion is breeding world-class Clydesdale Horses. The humble operation began in Fernwald, Germany (Fernwald means Far Forest in German) which has become our farm name, Far Forest Ranch.

It was 1995 when Benjamin Arnold and his father Karl Arnold bought their first horses: Princess, Dylan and Royal… all Shire horses.

Over a decade later, in 2009, Benjamin visited the American National Clydesdale Show in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Soon after he purchased two Clydesdales, Impression and Belle, fillies from Texas and one Clydesdale Stallion Thunder from Ontario, Canada and flew them to Fernwald, Germany, about 45 minutes North of Frankfurt. Their hobby had transformed into importing horses from America and developing award-winning bloodlines, and Karl’s favorite, driving their carriage through town.

Benjamin Arnold met Matt Ladensack in 2013 and decided to immigrate to America when they were married. Together they began to build their dream of owning their own farm and continuing Far Forest’s traditions in Washington State. They renovated a 100-year-old homestead, built a new barn and cabins at this Amboy, WA property.

In 2015 Benjamin and Matt Arnold-Ladensack launched their breeding in the USA and began a showing career in North America. The Far Forest Clydesdale breeding operation is based on some of the original horse bloodlines that were imported from the USA/Canada to Germany and now back to the USA.

Benjamin and Matt sold their 8-acre ranch in 2021 and moved from in Amboy, Washington and to Whitefish, Montana in efforts to build out a larger Clydesdale Outpost. They also foaled two new family members, Marga out of Rain and Joan, Isabelle’s first foal.

Matt and Benjamin are excited to launch Clydesdale Outpost | Whitefish and share their horses with you and the world.

The Event at Rebecca Farm

The Event at Rebecca Farm

The Event At Rebecca Farm will take place July 20 through July 24, 2022, and it is sure to be a lot of fun for everyone. Every July the national and international eventing community lands in Montana’s Flathead Valley. More than 5,000 local and regional spectators enjoy The Event at Rebecca Farm against the backdrop of Glacier National Park. The venue transforms into a destination where the spectator can see world-class eventing and shop unique and diverse items including Montana-made goods, regional arts, apparel, jewelry and top equine products to name just a few. The variety of food and drink offerings along with the Kid Zone where kids can run, jump and play make this a true family event! Did we mention that admission is FREE!

The Event at Rebecca Farm

Competition has three elements: dressage, cross country and show jumping.

DRESSAGE
A good dressage test lays the foundation for the rest of the competition and sets a champion up for success. The best dressage tests take place without a word, demonstrating a remarkable form of communication between top riders and their horses. Read more – HERE.

CROSS COUNTRY
The most dangerous of any eventing element, not only does cross country test a horse’s jumping ability, it also demands a high level of trust between horse and rider. The rider is the only one to have seen the course prio competition, so the horse must trust the rider in order to execute the obstacle or question. In turn, riders must understand what their horses are capable of jumping in order to complete the course. Read more – HERE.

SHOW JUMPING
To complete this final phase with finesse, riders need athletic horses in excellent physical condition, particularly after the more grueling cross-country. Though it is hard to get out of this final event phase with a perfect score, champions are typically made by jumping “clear” and without incurring time or fault penalties. Read more – HERE.

Rebecca Farm Shopping Fair & Festival

History of the Event at Rebecca Farm

The Event at Rebecca Farm started with a dedicated crew of local eventers who loved the local venue, Herron Park, but knew that more was possible. The inaugural competition in 2002 put Rebecca Farm on the map. It was a huge success with over 250 competitors. In 2004, The Event became a USEF (United States Equestrian Federation) and USEA (United States Eventing Association) recognized Gold Cup Series and a Fédération Equestre Internationale (FEI) World Cup eventing competition. Read more – HERE.

Halt Cancer at X

Rebecca Farm is about more than just horses… We care about the well being and spirit of our community, as well as national research which will find a cure for breast cancer!

In memory of The Event’s Founder, Rebecca Broussard, her daughter, Sarah Broussard, launched “Halt Cancer at X” in 2012 to raise money for breast cancer research. The name comes from the equestrian dressage test — where the first movement is for the rider to halt the horse at a station marked “X” in the arena.

Donations in the form of competitors’ pledges, auction proceeds, tax-deductible contributions, parking donations and other imaginative fundraising are infused back into Flathead Valley community outreach programs and to national research projects working toward a cure. Since 2012, Montana Equestrian Events, through Halt Cancer at X, has awarded nearly $775,000 in total grants to local organizations and research projects.

“We’re thrilled to take this great platform we have created and make it mean something more to the world,” said Sarah Broussard.
