Do you babysit? Do you know CPR and First Aid? Did you know that there is First Aid and CPR for Pets too? There are so many things to learn in a safety training course from treating injuries and bandaging to choking and even poisoning. Whether you are a teenager who wants to be prepared for your next babysitting gig, a new mother who wants to be prepared for anything, or simply want to learn more about Pet First Aid, there are opportunities to learn all over the Flathead Valley.

Montana Health & Safety Training offers a wide variety of options for training including CPR and First Aid. From Pet Safety Training to Youth Safety Training and even a Babysitters Safety Training Class, there is something for everyone.

HOMESCHOOLERS: Pet First Aid and CPR for Youth

February 9, 2022, 1:30 PM

Location: Cornerstone Church in Kalispell

Kids will have a fun time learning skills that might help them save their pets life in an emergency. From CPR to First Aid, they will leave with the knowledge to help in an emergency and to recognize an emergency with a dog or cat. 2 Hour, 30 Minute Course. Cost $25.00. Learn more – HERE.

Location: Cornerstone Church in Kalispell

Family & Friends CPR is for people who want to learn CPR but do not need a CPR course completion card to meet a job requirement. This course is ideal for community groups, new parents, grandparents, babysitters, and others interested in learning how to save a life. Includes book. 2 Hour Course. Cost: $25.00. Whitefish: BLAST Babysitters Safety Class

February 19, 2022, 10:00 AM

Location: Whitefish Community Center, 121 East Second Street Whitefish, MT 59937

Designed for New Babysitters ages 10-16. The BLAST program can prepare children to interview for a babysitting job, select safe and suitable games and activities, perform first aid, and begin babysitting safely and competently. Includes CPR and First Aid. Book and certification included. Please arrive 15 minutes early for check in. Students should bring a snack, drink, pen, and markers. 4 Hour Course. Frosty the Brewfest 2022

Are you ready for the coolest party in town? Mark your calendars and get ready for the Frosty The Brewfest 2022!

On Saturday, January 29, 2022, from 2 pm until 6pm, the 3rd Annual Frosty the Brewfest is coming to town, specifically 41 3rd Street West in Kalispell, Montana. This cool event will feature four hours of live music by Angel & Davey and The Kenny James Miller Band, brewfest, food trucks and outdoor events like the “ kids dash for gear”, “fat tire bike races”, and “frosty the beard contest”.

What makes this year’s event even better is that 100 percent of the proceeds will be donated to the Kalispell Downtown Association and The Flathead Warming Center.

Mark you calendars for Frosty the Brewfest 2022 – Saturday, January 29, 2022, from 2-6pm at 41 3rd St West in Kalispell.

Look for the heated tent in the Valley Bank parking lot located on the corner of 3rd St. W and 1st Ave. West in downtown Kalispell. This is a family friendly event so come out and enjoy some great brews, food, music and family fun and raise money for the community we love.

Christmas Tree Recycling

What are you going to do with your old Christmas Tree? Have you ever considered recycling it instead of just throwing it away?

Kalispell Parks & Recreation is asking everyone to place their Christmas Trees on the Boulevard for recycling on January 8, 15, or 22, 2022. All of the trees must have the ornaments, tinsel, garland and other decoration removed before placing them outside for pickup. For more information, pleases call 406-758-7849. Learn more – HERE.

What are the benefits of Christmas Trees Recycling?

One of the most important benefits of recycling the trees is that the trees are not just going straight to the landfill and be mixed up with trash. Instead the trees can be repurposed to benefit the environment.

Montana Fish Wildlife and Parks uses recycled trees for fish habitat projects across the state of Montana. Submerged Christmas trees in a pond or lake are great for providing habitats for fish that help to protect small or juvenile fish from predators. The trees also provide places where algae and insects can thrive providing a great food source for fish.

Many of the trees are turned into compost and used to help tree growth and other gardening projects across the city. Did you know that the city of Kalispell puts some of the trees through a chipper and offers free mulch to the community? The mulch and wood chips are great for feeding trees, suppressing weeds and as they decompose, they add nutrients to the soil.

Are you ready for the Festival of Trees?

The Festival of Trees is BACK! The Festival will take place on Friday, December 3, 2021, from 5 until 9 pm at 333 S Main St, Kalispell, MT 59901. Nate Chute Foundation

The NC Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation that was established in 1999 following the suicide death of Whitefish High School graduate Nate Chute. The Foundation provides financial support for a number of community and school based efforts. Suicide is epidemic in Montana. The Great Whitefish Gingerbread Contest

Attention all architects, structural engineers, painters, and artists! Are you good at Legos? Have you ever decorated cookies? How are your painting skills? In the end, all are invited to participate in the Great Whitefish Gingerbread Contest. Enter alone or with family, friends or coworkers! Help raise funds for Whitefish Affordable Housing while having fun, getting creative, and constructing to delight and impress.

Contest Rules
The organizers for this great event want to encourage everyone to participate, so the restrictions to a minimum!

Kits and pre-made gingerbread are allowed. Just be sure to add your personal touch!
Graham cracker houses are permitted in the Family/Individual Division.
Houses must have been built within the current year.
Please build and deliver your house on a sturdy base measuring no bigger than 15”x15”.
Visible elements of the house should be edible. (Does not include base or architecture under visible décor.) Items in the environment of your house may be inedible.
Designs may be any structure: houses, businesses, public buildings, hotels, churches, etc.
Houses will be viewed from all angles.
Entries must be delivered to designated business by the end of business on November 30. We will contact you with your assigned business and associated contact information.
Entries must be picked up during the Christmas Stroll anytime after the announcement of the winners (starting at 6:30pm)
