Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northwest Montana

Community Based Program
This is the “traditional” BBBS model in which a mentor (Big) and a mentee (Little) meet 2-3 hours each week outside of the home and school setting. Our Bigs make arrangements with the parent(s)/guardian(s) for a weekly activities with the Little. These outings can be as simple as a walk to the park to throw a frisbee or a trip to the local art studio to paint together. We know that the specific activity is not important, what is important is consistency, kindness, and a desire to grow together.

School – Based Program
Site-Based Programs: Our School Buddies program is designed to allow mentors to meet an elementary student at their school during normal school hours. Bigs meet their Littles for one hour each week, often during lunch and/or recess, for activities such as shooting hoops on the school playground or visiting the school library for board games. High School students are eligible to serve as mentors in this program

Our Site-Based Plus: is the same program as our School Buddies, an hour a week together at the Little’s school, with the addition of an opportunity to meet off school campus one time each month for an activity in the community. We see this is our best of both worlds program.

The Taste of Bigfork

Are you ready for some great wine, music and food? Well head on over to the Taste of Bigfork on April 24, 2022, from 2pm until 5pm. Take time, while you drink your wine and walk from venue to venue in downtown Bigfork. The Taste of Bigfork benefits ImagineIf Bigfork and the Bigfork Area Chamber of Commerce. Tickets for the Taste of Bigfork are $40 per person and available for sale April 1 at Electric Avenue Gifts and the Bigfork Area Chamber office. At 5:00 after you’re full and happy, the world’s greatest raffle will take place at the Garden Bar & Grill. Many great items are donated by Bigfork Area merchants for you to win. This event does sell out so get your tickets now!

There will be hundreds of career and job opportunities for you to explore.

A partnership between the Kalispell Job Service, Flathead Valley Community College, the Daily Inter Lake, and Discover Kalispell Chamber, this year’s fair has invited local high schools to bring students for career exploration from 9-11am, Veterans and Encore workers (retirees/seniors looking to re-engage in the workforce ) for the 11am-12pm hour, and is open to the general public from 12 – 4pm.

Samaritan House Cowboy Up Fundraiser

Are you ready to party for a cause? On Saturday, April 9, 2022, The Samaritan House is hosting the 15th Annual Cowboy Up Fundraiser at Snowline Acres in Kalispell, Montana. At 5pm the doors will open to a full night of dinner, live auction, silent auction, music and just a great night of fun!

“Our live + silent auctions will have goods and services donated by local businesses and individuals from Flathead Valley. You’re not going to want to miss what’s up for grabs! All proceeds from our auction go directly towards our mission here at Samaritan House. We’re passionate about providing our homeless community with resources and we can’t do that without your help.”

The Samaritan House Cowboy Up Fundraiser has over 100 items to be auctioned off from private guided Snowshoe Tours in Glacier National Park and Fishing Charters on Flathead Lake to Private Bottling Party, Artwork and more. There will be something for every person to bid to support the Samaritan House.

About Samaritan House

The Samaritan House is a local nonprofit seeking to end homelessness in the Flathead Valley. We come alongside residents in a variety of ways, including encouraging their efforts to find employment and housing. On a typical nightly stay at Samaritan House, there are 64 clients in the shelter program and 32 clients in our transitional and permanent apartments. Our shelter program has the capacity to house 32 individuals, 4 families, 4 individual veteran pods, and 14 individual transitional apartments. Samaritan House also has the ability to provide permanent apartments to those who have completed the shelter program. We have the capacity to house 31 individual apartments. Learn more – HERE.

Annual Chili Cook-Off

Do you have what it takes to cook the best chili in the Valley? But, if you do not want to cook, how are you at eating? On Saturday, April 2, 2022, from 1pm until 4pm, at the Kalispell Elks Lodge & Event Center. Guests can enjoy all the chili that can be eaten including the fix-ens all for $10. Plus, children 12 and under are free. My True Freedom band will be performing live throughout the event. So, come on out to the Annual Chili Cook-Off and have some fun selecting the best chili chef.

Bigfork Farmer’s Market Cooperative

The Bigfork Farmer’s Market Cooperative takes place on Wednesdays from Mid-May through Mid-October in Bigfork, Montana. This year the market will open on May 18 through October 12, 2022, from 3 until 6pm. The Bigfork Farmer’s Market Cooperative is located at 22 Swan Way Bigfork next to the Liquor Barn at the intersection of Hwy 35 and Hwy 83. Local vendors and food trucks are all welcome at the market which means guests can find handcrafted items like woodworking, fresh flowers, produce, jewelry, hand crafted quilts, candy, and so much more.

“We are a Not-for-Profit Organization owned by vendors dedicated to providing a low cost venue for Local Artists & Craftsmen, and Local Farmers. We work with other Non-Profit and Not-for-Profit Organizations throughout Flathead, Lake, and Sanders Counties. We were incorporated in 2007, serving these counties for 13 years.”

Aloha Luau Fundraiser

On April 1st, 2022, the Aloha Luau Fundraiser will take place at the Red Lion Inn Hotel in Kalispell. The Kickin’ Back for Orange And Black Aloha Luau Fundraiser is the Flathead High School’s Annual Fundraiser. There will be great food, drinks, and fun to help raise money for the Flathead Booster Club to support all of the activities for students at Flathead High School.

Tickets for the Aloha Luau Fundraiser are $50.00 per person and you must be 21+ or older to attend. Tickets can be purchased at Flathead Activities, Coach or Director of a Program, and from Booster members. The fundraiser will take place at the Red Lion Inn Hotel on April 1, 2022, from 7 to 10pm. Becoming a member of the Flathead Booster Club is the simplest of ways to show your support for student activities. For just $35 or more you can join other supportive parents in providing needed activity funds that support many student endeavors. On Saturday, March 19, 2022, Flathead Valley Ducks Unlimited presents Flathead Valley Firearm Frenzy. The doors open at 11am where guests will get to enjoy a great event, food, and lots of chances to win firearms and other cool stuff. There will be guns from the following manufacturers: Mossberg, Ruger, Savage, Taurus, CVA, Franchi, Canik, ATI, Beretta, Kimber, Tikka and Winchester. Everyone can have as many chances as they would like by purchases raffle tickets. Tickets are $20 each, 6 tickets for $100, and 20 for $250. Your $20 FIREARM FRENZY ticket not only gets you into the 20 Gun Super Raffle, but it gets you into the event for FREE FOOD and DRINKS!!!
